American Society of Mechanical Engineers ASME is an international professional society that promotes and enhances the technical competency and professional well-being of the members through programs and activities in mechanical engineering.

Biomedical Engineering Society BMES is a national organization that promotes the expansion of biomedical engineering knowledge and its utilization. The Stony Brook chapter fosters the interactions between its members and the faculty of the Biomedical Engineering department and provides assistance in exploring opportunities in research and industry through internships and fellowships.

Eta Kappa Nu (National Electrical Engineering Honor Society) Is an international Honor Society for Electrical Engineers. Its purpose is to assist it members throughout their lives in becoming better professionals as well as better citizens.

Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers IEEE is an international professional association. It is the leading authority in technical areas ranging from computer engineering, biomedical technology and telecommunications, to electric power, aerospace, consumer electronics as well as other areas.

Linux Users Group at Stony Brook:  LUGSB exists to promote the use of Linux, Open Source, and Free (as in freedom) Software.  Its purpose is to provide an open environment to all who wish to learn how to use and understand free software.

Organization of Actuarial Students OAS was established to inform students about career paths in actuarial science. Company presentations and guest speakers are scheduled throughout the academic year. Review sessions are conducted and study groups formed to prepare for the Course 1 Actuarial Exam.
